Study Finds Ants May Help Suppress Coffee Berry Borer A new ecology study suggests small ants may gain a reproductive benefit from evicting coffee berry borers from coffee fruits. AUniversity of Michigan releasesaid Jonathan R. Morris, now a postdoctoral researcher at the National Autonomous University of Mexico, observed ants using borer-made cavities in coffee fruits to rear their own young, potentially supporting more diverse ant communities on coffee plants.
