NCA Opens Nominations for 2027 Awards The National Coffee Association is accepting nominations for its2027 Individual Recognition Awardsthrough Sept. 30. The program includes the Luminary Award, Distinguished Leadership Award, Rising Star Award and Volunteer of the Year Award. Eligibility and nomination requirements vary by category, and self-nominations are not permitted. The awards will be presented during the2027 NCA Convention, taking place March 4-6 in Austin, Texas. Go Get Em Tiger Names David Yardley CEO Los Angeles roaster-retailer Go Get Em Tiger named David Yardley CEO, according to acompany announcement on Instagram. Yardley previously co-founded and led Orange County-basedMoonGoat Coffee Roasters. The appointment follows a2024 GGET leadership restructuring. Sivetz Taps Andrew Coe for Electric Roaster Launch Oregon-basedSivetz Roasting Machinesnamed 2023 U.S. Coffee Roasting ChampionAndrew Coelaunch partner for its new electric fluid-bed roaster line. Coe will receive an SRM9E for his roasting operation in St. George, Utah, while working with Sivetz on testing and education, according to the company. The electric fluid-bed models —SRM9E and SRM5E— joined the Sivetz lineup after Sivetz and Peachey Roasters unified operations earlier this year. Mike Kapos Takes CEO Role at Downeast Coffee Michael “Mike” Kapos has assumed the CEO role at Pawtucket, Rhode Island-based Downeast Coffee Roasters. His father, Bill Kapos, has transitioned to president and will remain active in the company, according to aDowneast announcement. Storied Coffee Ownership Transfer in Schenectady In Schenectady, New York, Storied Coffee founders Rich and Christine Sarnacki have transferred full ownership of the Storied brand and Jay Street coffee shop to shop manager Julia Brisbane.
