Seattle-based home coffee equipment companyShelbruis launching the June, a manual pourover brewer built for temperature stability, controlled outward flow and compatibility with common accessories and brewing methods. The June is expected to retail for $99. Shelbru is taking preorders through a fully fundedKickstarter campaignscheduled to end Aug. 14. The June’s dual-wall, vacuum-insulated stainless-steel body is intended to limit heat loss during brewing. A bulbous silicone funnel beneath the brewer, called the Aroma Flow system, centers the exiting stream, according to the company. Shelbru says the feature supports flash-chilling tools such as the Nucleus Paragon and sensory vessels such asthe Icosa AvensiCyclone carafe. Inside, 12 concave ribs are designed to support airflow and minimizebypass, while a ceramic coating is intended to prevent any unwanted flavor transfer. The June accepts V60-style conical paper filters and is compatible with the Hario Switch base for steep-and-release brewing. The June made its public debut at World of Coffee Brussels, naturally enough, in June. It joins a crowded global market for manual pourover systems that hasrecently expanded to includethe Timemore Crystal Eye Vector, Sibarist Brewing System, Aurli Purion 360 Dripper from Lin’s Ceramics Studio and Hario V60 Dripper NEO, among others. Shelbru was founded by father-daughter team Edward and Somin Bach, who launched the company’s first product, a cold brew system, through Indiegogo in 2021. Edward Bach brought more than 30 years of technology and business experience, while Somin Bach’s background spans marketing and educational administration. “Though our careers began outside the coffee industry, our shared passion for coffee inspired us to launch Shelbru during the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, turning a long-held interest into something bigger,” Somin Bach recently told Daily Coffee News. Tech news moves quickly enough that any single story is best read as one data point in a longer arc. The products change, the companies shuffle, but the underlying patterns — incentives, supply chains, regulatory lag — tend to repeat.

The most useful frame for reading coverage like this is to ask what would have to be true for the announcement to matter in a year. Most of the time, the honest answer is "not much." Occasionally, the answer is "everything," and those are the stories worth following up on.

We will keep tracking this one as it develops. If the details shift materially, we will update this piece rather than publish a follow-up that contradicts it.
